Job Title: Junior Geologist - Geophysicist - Gender: Male
• A junior Geologist – Geophysicist would work in a team of Geologist –
Geophysicists to prepare advice to the Clients (Oil Companies, etc)
regarding seismic-stratigraphy and geohazards (Hazards on seabed and sub
soil) for installation of offshore structures (Platforms, Pipeline, etc)
and Jack-up Rig emplacement.
• Will be involved in data acquisition, processing and interpretation of
Shallow seismic (sub bottom profiler), High resolution multi channel 2D
seismic, Side scan sonar and bathymetric data.
• The selected candidate would be a Trainee Junior Geologist-Geophysicist
during the period of training to acquire the required skills
Job Description:
• Require a sound knowledge of the geology of sedimentary basins.
• Will be assisting the Geologist-Geophysicist in quality control of the
data acquisition onboard survey boats.
• Will be part of a team of Geologist-Geophysicists in processing of the
data acquired offshore with the aim of achieving a good standard product
ready for interpretation.
• Will be assisting the Geologist-Geophysicist in the interpretation of
the geophysical data
Job Requirements:
• A good knowledge in windows based platforms, general operation computers
and peripherals. A good understanding of windows office or similar
software packages is necessary.
• Proficiency on standard Geophysical softwares, Computer aided design and
Geographical Information system are required. Training on industry
standard geophysical softwares and other by related softwares will be
provided. In addition, training on Computer aided design (CAD) and
Geographical information system (GIS) will be provided.
• Good oral and writing communication skills as well as good skills in
preparation of documentation and reports are expected. Proficiency in
English would have to be developed if the skills in English are currently
weak.
• Reports to Senior Geologist – Geophysicist / Supervisor for instructions
and allocation of tasks.
Education Qualification:
Bachelors degree or higher in Geophysics or Geology (Sedimentology /
Petroleum Geology)
